SUMMARY:

Published by DC Comics for February 2008, it’s the second half of “The Atom and the Amazon!”  Guest star Wonder Woman questions Ryan Choi’s Atom re: the bizarre incidents afflicting Ivy Town.  With Ivy Town now quarantined, thwarting a missile-launching Department of Metahuman Affairs aerial assault becomes Wonder Woman and the Atom’s imminent priority.  Seeking refuge at Ryan’s house, the heroes are attacked once more.  Impressed by Ryan’s heroism under fire (literally), Wonder Woman makes the Atom an unexpected offer.

REVIEW:

Ryan Choi’s underrated Atom gets a terrific team-up with Wonder Woman, as their unexpected chemistry is worth the price of admission.  Writer Gail Simone makes the most of their ‘odd couple’ personalities, as this comic boasts a welcome element of unpredictability.  For instance, Simone ensures that Ryan embarrasses himself with his tongue-tied reaction in Wonder Woman’s alluring presence; suffice to say, these brief scenes are among the story’s highlights.  Also, the Atom’s mid-battle commentary, as well as his close encounter with a barbecue grill, also spotlight Simone’s talents conveying Ryan Choi’s Atom.  Between its high-caliber artwork and a likable storyline, All-New Atom # 18 proves an entertaining read.
