SUMMARY:
Published by DC Comics for March 2006, it’s the Part 3 finale of “Honor Among Thieves.” Inside the JSA Museum, the Cosmic Key is up for grabs. Upon defeating a short-handed JSA, the Injustice Society must fight a running battle to escape. Against Talia & Nyssa Al Ghul’s Secret Society minions, the battered Injustice Society turns on one another to save the Wizard.
One treacherous teammate perishes, as Johnny Sorrow is freed from an astral prison. Meanwhile, Jakeem Thunder; Stargirl; and Wildcat must thaw a frozen Ma Hunkel. Having absconded with the Cosmic Key, the Injustice Society begins a dubious new chapter.
REVIEW:
With the JSA relegated to a mere three pages, writer Jan Van Meter delivers an intriguing tale of spiteful rivalry among DC’s two villainous Societies. Including a terrific cover image, the art team capably supports this unusual storyline. In terms of kid-friendliness, a bloodied Icicle is seen, as is a villain’s scorched skeleton.
Otherwise, it’s a solid read where the novelty is the rare opportunity to witness a super-villain team’s inner turmoil.
Note: Despite their presence on the cover, Mr. Terrific; Sandman; and Dr. Mid-Nite don’t appear in this issue.
