SUMMARY:
Published by DC Comics for July 1995, the issue is entitled “Storm Over Thanagar: The Way of the Warrior, Part 3.” It’s the mid-point of a multiple-issue cross-over with Justice League America and Guy Gardner: Warrior. On Earth, Hawkman’s adoptive mother, Naomi, tells vapid super-model/actress (and Katar Hol’s would-be girlfriend), Beryl Jansing, that he’s out of town on business. On planet Thanagar, Hawkman and his Justice League teammates find the ravaged world is essentially a ghost town. The League then challenges the militaristic alien invaders known as the Leechun to save what’s left of Thanagar.
Note: The League consists of: Diana (team leader); Hawkman; Martian Manhunter; Flash (Wally West); Icemaiden; Fire; Captain Atom; Maxima; Atom Smasher; and Obsidian.
REVIEW:
Sporting a plausible script and more-than-sufficient artwork, this issue does its job, but it isn’t spectacular by any means. Writer William Messner-Loebs ensures that the numerous Justice League guest stars get sufficient screen time while primarily focusing on a downcast Katar Hol. Generally speaking, Hawkman # 22 offers a good-enough single read.
Note: In terms of kid-friendliness, the only caveat would be implied nudity shown in Beryl Jansing’s bathtub scene.

This is a two-page “Words of Prey” letters and answers column.
