SUMMARY:

Published by DC Comics for July 2011, Eclipso Rising continues with “Part Four – Wrath & Vengeance.”  The League (Jesse Quick; Dick Grayson’s Batman; Donna Troy; the alien Starman; & Congorilla) and guest stars Green Lantern Alan Scott and Obsidian strategize a counter-strike vs. Eclipso. With Jade & Zauriel among his pawns, Eclipso’s next target is the Spectre, as it puts him closer to ultimately vanquishing God.

While the League desperately initiates Batman’s strategy, a victorious Eclipso’s mystical blade severs the Moon in half.

Note: Though the image isn’t included in this comic, there is a variant cover by artists Ed Benes & Andrew Dalhouse.

REVIEW:

Including a high-caliber cover image, the art team maintains this storyline’s visual punch.  Though the League has less screen time, the intriguing guest presence of the Spectre, the Golden Age Green Lantern, and Obsidian is worthwhile to read.  Justice League of America # 57 is generally well-played, as writer James Robinson is building momentum towards this storyline’s resolution.

ADDITIONAL CONTENT:

DC Marketing Manager Matt Keller hawks the availability of commemorative Flashpoint button pins in the single-page “DC Nation” column.  Editors Eddie Berganza and Rex Ogle provide a 1½-page letters-and-answers column, which includes a cover reveal for Justice League of America # 58.  There’s also a four-page Brightest Day Aftermath: The Search for Swamp Thing # 1 preview.
