SUMMARY:
Entitled “The Secret That Time Forgot!” DC Comics published this issue for September 1982. It’s told in flashback by a dad to his young son during their visit to a space museum in the 25th Century. Explaining the ancient origin of The Demons Three: Abnegazar, Rath, & Ghast, the father recounts how these diabolical demons were first freed by Felix Faust and subsequently defeated by the Justice League multiple times.
A chance resurrection years later coincides with the start of Zatanna Zatara’s first stint as the League’s annual chairwoman, as seen aboard the JLA Satellite. In a showdown at Stonehenge, the demonic trio quickly subdues Flash; Atom; Elongated Man; and Batman. Zatanna’s ingenuity is the team’s last hope of thwarting The Demons Three. The dad slyly concludes his tale with an unexpected twist.
REVIEW:
Backed by likably simplistic artwork, this kid-friendly story plays out as expected. Given a chance to shine, Zatanna proves her worth as the League’s new chairperson. In a nice wrap-up, the last page poses a minor mystery for readers to ponder, though a potential clue lies with the young boy’s name. Highlighted by fun banter aboard the JLA Satellite, this issue is an enjoyably light read for Justice League fans.
