SUMMARY: RUNNING TIME: 4:49 Min.
First released by Eric Carmen in 1975, Australian performer Jamie O’Neal covers this self-reflective tune for 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary movie soundtrack.
REVIEW:
In faithful tribute to Eric Carmen’s original version, Jamie O’Neal adds a welcome feminine touch. Considering how melancholic this song really is, O’Neal’s vocals admirably imbue plenty of extra soaring octave. It likely isn’t coincidental that O’Neal treads close to Celine Dion’s own 1996 cover version, but she doesn’t come off as a mere Dion sound-alike. If anything, O’Neal exhibits more modesty belting out the tune’s higher notes.
